Madrigal for Charlie Muffin (1981)
Charlie Muffin has sunk to the bottom of the survival barrel keeping ahead of the retribution of both the CIA and British intelligence for exposing the incompetence of both Directors. Which makes him the ideal, unsuspecting pawn when the British evolve a trap for a KGB mole. Charlie doesn't initially suspect a KGB counterplot, either, until it's almost too late to rediscover his old survival expertise.
